Well my 07 does, like i said if i put in a belt extension to deactivate the passenger minder it turns off the passenger airbag. (i have a light on the dash to indicate that) also if my wheelchair frame is in the seat (its about 20 pounds of metal frame) and my tool bag (not sure of its weight)

If a full adult sits in the seat it just beeps till the belt is plugged in.

Mine has some kind of air plunger or somthing that uses vacume or air or somthing running to some sensors and a module that plugs into the ECU

Ive had my own seats out and inspected the passenger seat very well.

This is the plug mine has on the passenger seat. You can see it has about 4-5 sets of connectors.

One thing i couldnt figure out is it has 2 sets going to the latch. One set i figure is for the latch itself. As you plug in the lap belt it activates a switch (black and red wires) the one that i dont understand is the second set that is actualy molded into the belt. It must be some kind of force sensor. Meaning if i slam on the brakes hard and the belt detects a large amount of force or pull on it, it activates the airbag or somthing. The sensor is part of the female side of the latch. These arnt the good seats either, not the SVT as you can see they are just the standard basic cloth seats.

Front seat replacement & Airbag light

adding information to an old post, but a good one.

Had same problem. 2000 Zx3 Front seat-back broke. Found a replacement from a 2004/5. put new one in and plugged wiring harness in and bang....the airbag light.

looking at several different posts I combined them and found that taking the old Female end buckle & the pretensioner off and putting on the new seat solved the airbag light problem. Also putting the wires back the way there where on the old seat .[

The new seat had a pretensioner on the track and the wiring from the belt & pre-tensioner went to different ports on the 5-pin connector under seat.
