License plate bracket removal?

Before I washed my car today I decided to check and see how the front bumper would look if I removed the front license plate. Having a plate on the front didn't used to bother me, but more and more I just notice how UGLY it looks. I figured maybe two little holes in the bumper skin, but possibly they might be small enough you wouldn't notice. Well, that stupid plate holder is apparently either RIVETED onto the bumper, or screwed on from the other side, either way with FOUR attachments! Even if I could figure out how to get it off the car there would be four friggen holes in my bumper. Stupid CA. Has anyone tried to remove theirs, and if so how was it actually attached? I guess if I want the "plateless" look I'm gonna have to buy a whole new bumper.

Hmm, really? Was your plate holder a big thick one that makes the plate stand way out from the front bumper? Maybe there are different versions. All I know is I took the plate off and there were obviously four attachments holding the thing onto the bumper, and they appeared to be non-removable...

On the ZX3 there's an ugly flat space where the plates go, there are no brackets like the SVT bumper. I know how you feel there Warren...CA laws suck.

LOL, yeah CA sucks sometimes with the laws and regulations. So depending on your Focus, it's ugly bracket or no bracket but a recessed area that's obviously where your plate is supposed to be, huh? Unless you're lucky enough to live in a state where they don't care, or you specifically told the dealer NOT to install a front plate.

in missouri, i see some cars that don't even have front plates. i dunno if they just don't get caught or what. but i like the way it is. but sometimes, the placement bracket seems like it's just TOO far out, and i miss judge just how far, and i hit my grandpa's truck.

no damage to my car though. did it once, very very lightly.

Hey SVT4ME, i got my focus here in CA and the front liscence plate was simply screwed on w/ 2 screws in the top 2 corners of the plate. so with mine off there are just 2 holes in the flat spot in the bumper. maybe it differs by dealers?

That's how mine would probably look after getting a front license plate. I havent gotten one yet, but I'm planning on making one soon because the front of my car looks to bare without one.
