Shift Knob

This may be a stupid question but how do you get the shift knob off?

It's on really tight, you just have to turn ccw... but the shifter boot is attached to the bottom of the knob. Don't even try to take that off, the word is you'll never get it back on.

Pull the center console up and use either an adjustable wrench or open ended wrench to turn the knob off (you'll see the flats once you get the boot up). Don't try turning the knob from the top, you may very well ruin the leather.

^ that is the exact same thing revamp posted in the thread she left a link for.

Strange that the SVT shift knobs have that bolt thing, the ZX3 ones twisted off easily.

listen genius.....before you say something as strong as "you are all wrong", you might want to READ the posts and follow the links. Also, unless you want to cause irreparable damage to your shift boot, how about you just release it from the console and flip it up (the way it was meant to) instead of strong-arming it off the shifter like it's NOT meant to. Hope you don't treat the rest of your car that way.

Just installed shifter, cold air and strut tower. Thanks to essveetee, it was pretty straight forward for the shifter.
