DRL with '04 SVTF

I've had my SVTF for less than a month now, and been nearly run over 3 times.

I wanted Daytime Running Lamps, so I ordered (throu my dealer's parts dept) the module from FORD.

It arrived, I opened it, and it specifically says it does not work on SVT or HID (stock on my '04).

They gave me zero hassle when I returned it, but said that is the only DRL they show in the parts catalog.

Does anyone know how to get the HIDs to be in a DRL configuration? I looked through the posts, and did not see anything.

All help or suggestion is appreciated!

Hmmm, I remember a Canadian member posted a how-to thread for doing the independent foglight mod on his car. As I recall, he couldn't use the usual way because of the Canadian Focus' DRLs. Maybe you could look up that thread and see if there's anything to help you? Or ask your parts guy what they do for SVTs in Canada?? (Those exist right? Suddenly I'm unsure).

One option, which i do on my svtf with hid's is i turn on my parking lights and fog lights (i've done the mod, cost 15 cents and takes 5 minutes to do) or i just drive with all my lights on. With the hid's there is no way they can't see me. Also...i don't think you can do DRL with the hid housings b/c they aren't equip for it. to do it you would have to drill into the houseing and make a location for the secondary bulb. It's easier to just drive with ur lights on!

I just installed DRLs on my '03 SVT with HIDs last night. Seems to work just fine. I paid the extra $10-$15 for the Auto Headlamp/DRL module, not just DRLs alone. Let me know if you are still thinking of doing this. There was nothing in my instructions that said not compatible with SVT or HID, but the Focus wasn't listed on the chart that helped you find the wires needed to splice into. I figured it out based on some posts on here about wiring and by testing the wires with my volt meter. There is no secondary bulb needed. If its daytime, just the HIDs come on. Then when it gets dark, the parking lights and dash lights come on with the HIDs like normal headlight operation. It also has an adjustable delay that keeps the headlights on for up to 90 seconds after you shut off the car.
