03 civic si vs. 02 focus svt?

well thats my choice i owe 18000 on my civic si *cause i was upside down on a stupid nissan* and my brother has a 2002 ford focus svt at his dealership for 8500$ both vehicles have around 20000 miles , so id probably be financing 12000 if i got the focus but just looking for some advise , financially it would be wise but i like my si , so just trying to compare the two

2002 SVT for 8500, wow. I think performance wsie SVT owns the si in every category. If your looking into heavy modding the civic would probably be better, vbut I can't get over the shifter in those things.

I own a Honda but the new style Si is something I just never warmed up to. The SVT Focus just is a far better looking car to me in every way! Especially the view from front - Si front end vs the SVT front end - the Ford blows it away. EVERY review I have ever read where the Si and SVT were included had the SVT rated over the Si. For not much more that a Civic Si - I would rather have the Acura RSX with the 160 HP engine. For that matter - I would rather have a Civic EX Coupe than the Si. At the end of the 03 model year all the local dealers around here still had their 03 Si Civics on the lot - apparently they are not very good sellers.

On the other hand my 01 Civic has been extremely reliable - at 95,000+ miles car is holding well despite the way I drive. Your trans going out is pretty bad - Honda manual transmissions are usually trouble free.

the older ones are, the new ones are not very good reason why honda is going to change the civic quick because it isnt selling,,,,,the coupes and 4 doors are doing better. the svt hands down, plus i think i can take an si even with my lowly zx-3. just researchy that svt because they have their share of problems,,,but far better performer and looks wise

...

*smashed a zx3 in a race* i achually love the new look of the si but the weird thing is i dont like how the zx3 looks but i like the svt lol i know theres small if no difference i just think the svt looks nice , imma go test drive the svt today and see where it stands next to my lightly moded si. and thats one thing im really worried about , no offense, but ford isnt known for long lasting where honda is. but im going to do some research but thanks for the opinions i appreciate it ,

don't fear the blue oval - if you maintain it and don't abuse it, it will last

and this includes your honda tranny going out?? being "known" for something doesn't make it true. sure the focus had some teathing problems, but that is fixed years ago. The svt has it's problems too, but that doesn't mean it won't last. As was said in previous posts, the biggest reason that japanese cars seem to last longer is that the dealers demand you have the maintenance done as stated in the manual. All of you tell me the truth.... when your car had 15,000 miles, did you take off the rear brake drums and inspected the brakes? how about the steering components that are required to be checked at 15k??? I bet not... I rest my case.

im gonna have to say the focus is a way better deal than and honda. i looked at the Si and i was a little taken back at the sight of the shifter....yuck. i just got my 2004 ZX3 with the 2.3 duratec DOHC yesterday and i am one impressed individual. i was looking to get a WRX....but the ford made me re-think my plans....now i have about 10k i didnt spend to get the subaru to play with.

so get rid of that Si....and get into a focus.
