Fan Cooler Relay Stopped Working

There are no leaks in the hoses and the coolant level was normal when the dash message said "overheating. Pull over safely".

I took my voltmeter to the connections the relay plugs into and.....nothing. I then checked the connections for that relay and there is power there.

The question is, how safe is it to hotwire the fuse connections to get the fan working? I ordered another relay from OEM but its gonna take another week and a half. This is my back-up car and would really like to get her back on the road.

Thank you.

If it has the DCT trans are you sure it's not the transmission that was overheating?

It was overheating because the fan wasn't coming on. I changed the relay but same problem.
