2014 Titanium To 2015-2018 Conversion

Hi all. Well as some of you know from following me on my once in a lifetime attempt to convert my 2014 Ford Focus Titanium to a face lifted 2015-2018 MK3.5 that i have been doing for the past 7 months. The bad news is i regret to inform all of you that it has been at a place for the last 3 months trying to get all the modules programmed and configured to talk to one and other and for the car to start. The guys just informed me yesterday that they have exhausted all attempts to get my car programmed and able to start. :-( It has to go to Ford they say. Because Ford has other machines to get this stuff going properly and they just don't have the stuff that they thought would be needed to accomplish this task. They for the life of them can not get the RFA module to communicate with the PCM, IPC and BCM. They have swapped modules at different times while trying to make this work.

So off to Ford i went just to talk to them first to see if they will get my car going for me. When i told him what i did, he about fell off his chair. He could not rap his head around the fact that i spent the money and time to swap a car to a complete year/generation. Now before i really started this project, i talked to Ford plant in Michigan in the engineer dept and told them everything i wanted to do and he said it can be done as long as all parts, modules, and wiring are from a later model MK3.5. He said i would have to change the VIN in the PCM to match the VIN at which all the options and modules came from because there are 5 modules that have to be programmed to the VIN of the car. So when i talked to Ford yesterday and i talked to a Ford service supervisor of 36 years. Once i told him what Ford told me in Michigan, he said well he can't do that to my car. I asked him what he means and he simply said "(THERE IS NO WAY YOU ARE GOING TO GET A FORD DEALER IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO PUT A DIFFERENT VIN NUMBER IN YOUR CAR THAT IS NOT THE CORRECT VIN TO YOUR YEAR.") He said that would be violating the company policy and violating the state of California DMV. Because the DMV issues titles and registration off the VIN number of the VIN plates on the car from the factory when it was built. So even though Ford can change the VIN number to a different number in the PCM using IDS, but is not willing to do it at all.

So i'm stuck with either spending the money buying all 2014 stuff and changing it back or just parting the car out or selling the whole car to someone for parts and me just paying off the loan and then me buying a 2015-2018 car with all the options i want. So that's where i'm at. A huge loss and waist of time. :-( The only good out of this is i learned a hell a lot about the Focus and wiring. If i new then what i know now, i would have not even attempted to do this at all.

Talk to RebelDevil they have done several ST swaps throughout the years successfully and they may be able to walk you through the issues you are having. I believe Shade-10 is Mike's username here.

Thanks Rambleon84 And Pasta. I'm working on it slowly. I never knew it would be this difficult electronics wise. I've converted 2 previously Focus's a 2002 base to a 2002 ZTS fully loaded car and a 2008 SE to a 2011 SES fully loaded car and never had any problems doing it. But i guess Ford is making it very difficult for people to do this kind of conversion. Funny, the service manager at one of the Ford dealers i tried to get to do my programming asked me, 'WHY ARE YOU CHANGING A 2014 TO A 2015?' I told him because Ford decided to add all these good options a year after i bought my 2014. I hate when Ford does that. Anyways, Mike got me motivated to continue trying so i will keep you all updated as soon as i have some news.
