Okay, so I had an open 2 lane highway as in 2 lanes one way, for 3 or 4 miles, temp was a cool 60 degrees and was dropping a little bit, low humidity... Stopped and took off, after mile or so was up over 120, hit 147 and it was all she had...., all I have at the moment is k&n filter....i know I need intercooler, but when at 147, couldnt get past it...

Even a small headwind would prevent you from reaching 150 plus.
Most of the power is needed to overcome drag.
A good 20mph tailwind on the other hand..
Wind crossing diagonally probably also would cause problems for top speed.. As it would disturb the airflow over the car.

I bet taking off the rearview mirrors would boost top speed by 10mph too.

Fastest I can find an official number for is from the Mojave Mile, these are going to be actual speeds:
Top Focus ST from Oct 2016 was 168.3
https://www.mojavemile.com/images/pdf/Mag5_Results.pdf

I'm assuming this is a stage 3 or better focus. For science's sake, it seems top speed in 6th gear would be limited to 184mph based on gearing/rpm. You would need a very long road and gobs of power. Stock tires are rated at 186 (Y)

Otherwise from what i can find, actually top speed is not governed or electronically limited. So 150-155 that the car mags list would be drag limited in stock trim.

I'd be surprised if top speed can be reached in 6th. Probably 5th (or 4th what's the theoretical max there), 6th doesn't have the grunt I think to overcome aero.

From what i have read, to hit 155 in 5th gear you would need to spin to 7k rpm. According to those that have gone above 150, they are doing it in 6th. Of course in stock trim, you would need ideal conditions to get past the aero wall

Seems the internet has an answer.

Overboost on the ST gets you to 6800 RPM, 5th gear is 154 MPH at 6800 (147 MPH at 6500, and 138 MPH at 6000)

6th gear is 184, 176, and 163.

So I'm guessing top speed is 155, as you really can't run overboost to get from 138 to 154, and I'm doubting you can spin up 6th gear to that 163 MPH. 155 MPH is at 5700 RPM in 6th.

At Grattan I must have been in 6th on the straight, and I hit 147 MPH, I remember having to shift during the middle of the straight (and I thought it was from 4 to 5, but clearly it was from 5 to 6)

Sounds about right, good info. How does the car feel at 147? Stock suspension/tires?

Now imagine what the limits would be if you had a big turbo and were making a conservative 350hp/tq

I was at 147 for maybe 10 feet! Stock suspension, tire size and brakes (actual tires were Pilot Super Sports). Seemed fine, brakes worked!
