In need of help/advice!!!

Hi everyone!

I'm new here, but come seeking your help with a problem I am having. I owned a Focus SVT for over a decade and was in complete love with the car. Unfortunately, my love is no longer with us and I am in the market for a replacement. So, my first question is a quick comparison question for the people I figured would know the best!

1) I'm deciding between a new 2018 Focus ST and a used 2016/2017 Focus RS. If I had the income, I would buy a new RS with no hesitation. My question for you is; is a new ST at around $26k a better deal than the RS for around $33-34k?

2) Can anyone help me find an RS that suits my needs? I'm looking for a used black RS that has both the moonroof and the Sony Audio system with HD radio (including subwoofer). Anybody know of any dealer with a car like this?

Thank you so much, fellow Focus lovers.

The RS your Looking at 35000. The ST AROUND 20000. Depends on your budget.

An ST is probably the better deal, but with an RS, you'd truly be owning something special.

Personally, I'd look around for the right RS for a while and see if one pops up. If it doesn't, that go with the ST. I don't think you'd regret either choice as long as you can find a well cared for RS or the ST built to your specs.

Do you plan on keeping the cars stock? If so, then the RS will be more fun with the extra power and AWD. Dealers still have new 2017 ST's on their lots and you should be able to get one under 20k...even less if you go used. Now the question is can you comfortably afford the RS? If there is any hesitation in your answer, go with the ST.

Short of the AWD, you can definitely get the ST up to the RS levels of performance. I would say ST could be more fun with full bolt ons and a tune. Then you can add to it from there with big turbo/LSD/RS Brakes/wheels/tires/suspension

Thank you so much for the feedback so far. It's greatly appreciated.

I guess part of my apprehension to go with the ST is the recent news of Ford's plans to cut Focus production down to only the Focus Active. Is this my last chance to get a relatively new RS? I'd hate to miss the opportunity, if so.

It's your last chance to get any new focus, the active is going to be a crossover and not the sedan/hatch as we know it now.

You can find low mileage RS's for around $32k vs ST's for under $20k.

The new Focus Active is not really a crossover despite the company calling it as such. It's literally just the new MKIV Focus with a suspension lift afaik. So get the lowering springs and suspension and it's the same hatch they will sell globally.
