Ford Sold 16 Focus RS Cars Daily On Average In The USA

Since it was launched in the US last summer, Ford has sold over 3,500 units of the new Focus RS.

This means that 500 vehicles found new homes each month, and doing a little math reveals that about 16 were sold each day on average.

California remains the largest Ford Focus RS consumer, with 627 sold to date, followed by Michigan, Texas, Florida and Pennsylvania, in this order, with 256, 244, 230 and 192 units delivered, respectively.

32 percent of the Ford Focus RS delivered in the US were finished in Stealth Gray, 30 percent went for the Nitrous Blue and 20 percent for the Shadow Black, whereas Frozen White was chosen by 18 percent of the customers.

That's great news.

However, the RS is still a premium performance vehicle that most people can't afford to own.

I can only hope that the success of the hottest Focus ever made will translate into more performance oriented sub-$30k vehicles... We've got the Fiesta and Focus ST under $30k, that's it.

Sure you can get a Mustang for less than $30k, but if you want something that isn't rental-spec, you have to spend quite a lot more.

I find it a bit amusing that Ford is bragging about having sold 3,500 RS's That would be an abysmal failure under normal circumstances. I understand that Ford was not expecting to sell a bunch of them though.

I wonder how many would sell if dealers did not try to gouge buyers. I paid $700 over MSRP and still feel foolish about that, but the dealer was wanting $15k over initially, and it was the exact car I wanted, with no other local dealers having that exact car.

My dealership has sold them for MSRP only. We have never asked for a deposit or a penny over MSRP.
