engine/transmission swap

Hey guys and gals. I have a 2003 focus 2.0l sohc with 3s4z-ca transmission I need to put into a 2007 focus se that has 2.0l dohc with transmission code 6s4p-fa. first can I just swap the transmissions? they look different so I am assuming I have to do motor and tranny. If that's the case will the 03 motor and tranny bolt into the 07 body or do I need different mounts and stuff. I am also assuming I will have to do the harness swap. thanks for any help. Also they are both automatics, and from what I have found they are both the 4f27e. I need to get a running car out of these two asap so help is greatly appreciated.

Whew! No the transaxles don't interchange. To swap between Duratec(2007) and the Zetec you would have to transfer the entire wiring harness, fuel tank with pump driver and fuel lines. Basically stripping both cars to a shell. Be easier just to go buy a junkyard transmission.

I called around and I cant get a tranny cheaper than 750. and I don't have that kind of cash. single parent with 3 kids. but I work at a garage and im a body tech so I don't mind doing the work to save the money. the 07 I think is the zetek and the 03 is a piz or piv or whatever they call the sohc. I can do the harness but are the mounts on the car side the same. will the engine and tranny just drop in or is there special brackets? I know it will be a lot of work but I don't have another option so I kinda need to pick everyones brain to try to be prepared for any road blocks before I tear into it. thanks for the help

Just use whatever brackets go with the engine you are using. It will drop right in.

The US sohc is known for dropping valve seats. Do a compression check before you swap.

You will need to swap the ecu as well. Instrument clusters are not interchangeable as far as I know. Maybe the more experienced with interchanges will dive in. Good luck.
