2012 DCT swap to MTX-75

Hey all, I have a 2012 Focus, 45k miles, DCT trans s*** the bed. I want nothing to do with that failure of a transmission, so I swapped it out for a manual trans (MTX-75). All OEM parts, the mechanical transplant was flawless. After adding a jumper wire, I got it running and driving.

So at this point, it runs and drives, with the obvious MIL, and only one code "Lost Comm with TCM". The cruise control doesn't work, and the engine is rev-limited at 3500 RPM. The speedometer works.

Now im not sure what to do. I expected to reach this dead end. My inspection is good through August, so I have plenty of time to try things!

Any ideas? anyone think a tuner out there may help me?

I tried plugging in the TCM with all its sensors/servos n such and putting it in neutral, but that was a no go. Seems like the servos try to do a self test when first powered up, they were just spinning... and oddly it wouldn't start. I may monkey around more with the TCM plugged in.

I've considered finding a used PCM and BCM from a manual car, but then the VIN wouldn't match the car which I guess would throw a red flag at the DMV? Im sure there'd be a way around that... BUT, Im not sure if there are other modules that wont communicate with the donor PCM/BCM due to the VIN mismatch? Anyone know witch of the following modules would be affected by the VIN mismatch?
-Accessory protocol interface module
-ABS module
-Restraint control module
-Steering angle sensor module
-HVAC module
-GPS module
-Instrument panel cluster
-Driver/passenger door modules
-Front control/display interface module
-Audio control module

Or could my PCM & BCM be reprogrammed with a VIN from a manual car?

What do y'all think? Am I screwed? It seems like there must be a way. I cant find but 1 person here who has done this with a 3rd gen focus, but I cant get ahold of him. Seems like there must be people out there doing this... Any input would help!

Now before anyone says anything about wiring harnesses, I have a factory wiring manual, there are basically 2 wiring differences between AT and MT. The clutch sw input, and the reverse light switch. I have this all figured out, im not worried about the wiring end of it.

Thanks in advance guys!

P.S. if anyone wants it, I have a complete list of parts ans P/N's required for the swap

Is it tuned? If not then getting a tuner to turn some things off or on will probably fix that. I know on the older focus that when going to a auto to manual it needs the neutral engine speed raised or it will only rev like yours.

It is not tuned. The neutral rpm seems ok, but maybe it could be higher... so the older cars would have that 3500 limit? And your saying raising the neutral rpm fixed the upper limit? Or are they 2 different points adjusted with the tuner? What tuner is commonly used?

Yea, you need a tuner to tune for these things. Most folks use SCT, but there are others out now for the MK3's.

I have Tom's tune, AKA Focus Power, and I'm very satisfied with his work!! He has his own thread in the tuning section and tons of posts on other threads. He's an SCT certified tuner and he will let you know what he can or can't do for your situation straight on, no BS.

Parts List

Its been a while and 60k miles since I did my swap. Car is still running, with some unrelated but irritating electrical issues that have nearly pushed me to lighting it on fire or crushing it with my backhoe.

Here is the list of parts I used for the conversion:

Part number, Description Where - I got it

CV6Z-3K305-B BEARING BRACKET (MOUNTS TO ENGINE BLOCK) - NEW, TASCAPARTS.COM

YS4Z-3N324-AA BEARING RETAINER, FOR P/N 3K305 - NEW, TASCA PARTS

CV6Z-7474-A SHIFT CABLE BRACKET, TRANSMISSION END - NEW, TASCA PARTS

CV6Z-6E042-A LOWER TRANSMISSION MOUNT BRACKET - NEW, TASCA PARTS

1S7Z-6379-AAA FLYWHEEL BOLT (6 REQUIRED, LONGER THAN FLEXPLATE BOLTS) - NEW, FORD DEALER

CV6Z-3B437-C LEFT CV DRIVE SHAFT - USED

CV6Z-3B436-F RIGHT CV DRIVE SHAFT - USED

CV6Z-7B546-A CLUTCH ASSY (PRESS PLATE 8M51-7563-AC, DISK 8M51-7550-AC) - NEW, FORD DEALER

CV6Z-7T504-A HOSE ASSY (CLUTCH MASTER CYL TO RESERVOIR) - NEW, TASCA PARTS

CV6Z-7A512-A TUBE ASSY (TRANSMISSION TO FIREWALL) - NEW, TASCA PARTS

CV6Z-7A512-B TUBE ASSY (FIREWALL TO MASTER CYL) - NEW, TASCA PARTS

BV6R-7002-AAA TRANSMISSION, 5 SPEED MANUAL (MTX-75) - USED

CV6Z-7210-A SHIFTER ASSY - USED, EBAY

CV6Z-7220-A SHIFTER MOUNT - USED, EBAY

CV6Z-7E395-C SHIFT CABLE ASSY (2 CABLES) - USED, EBAY

CV6Z-7213-A SHIFTER KNOB - USED, EBAY

Optional parts

CV6Z-15177-A OUTPUT SHAFT SEAL, 2 required (New seals not required, but I did them just for good measure. They’re cheap and easy to replace) - NEW, FORD DEALER

BV6Z-2K478-B BRAKE/CLUTCH RESERVOIR (I did not want to mess with my brake system to replace the reservoir, so I installed a used clutch reservoir from a pick-n-pull, came from a 1991 camaro)

If you were to buy all of these parts new(except for the trans) it would end up in the neighborhood of $800. I got the trans for around 450, CV shafts 80 each, and the whole shifter setup w/cables for 90.
