You may just have a factory freak that makes more power then most, I've owned them before!
Can't reliably compare results from different dynos, or runs in different environments.

When one person with same mods is making 15+ whp more then most others? There no concievable variance in altitude, temperature or dyno settings to explain that.

Tom`s Custom Tuning MK3 Focus

How many DCTs have been dynoed? Why would a DCT lose more power? Isnít it made to be more efficient? Do any of them have cams installed?

It's more that the dyno's aren't calibrated similarly. Which is why every post in the world on the subject will tell you that dynos are subjective, not fact.

Use them as a tuning tool, not a comparison.

The theory is that the 6 speeds in the DCT and ST do not have any 1:1 ratio gears, which would be as close to direct drive from input shaft to differential without having to go through a gearset, which, in theory, should always leech power, therefor would show less HP on the dyno.

This is an interesting theory, however my car and many others made more HP on the dyno in 3rd gear than in 4th throughout the curve, back to back runs, 3rd gear being the latter run, taking heatsoak out of the options for why.

The lesson to take away from this observation is that all dyno results vary. There are too many variables from day to day, run to run to make numbers 100% comparable.

Tire size/compound/diameter
Tire air pressure
Ambient air temp
Hood up/down
Dyno fan position/size
Weather conditions
Oil temp/viscosity/condition
Coolant temp
Dyno calibration(biggest variable imo)

These and many more can all lead to differing and misleading numbers.

To the part in gearing. 4th gear is closest to a 1:1 in the DCT being a 1.02:1. 3rd In the DCT is 1.44.

I did all my dynoes in 3rd because that’s just what mcnews did when I started to dyno years ago. So wanted to keep it consistent.

I assume you've seen the post above explaining it.
You can do runs with the same car on three different brands in the same day and and get results over 30 or more hp apart. They're really best at comparing mods to the same care on the same dyno. And tuning the car with out having to take it down the road.
