If you want NA build... you go for cams, bore/stroke increase, porting, decking, header, intake...
But my point is, if you go turbo, the intake man, header, and possibly cams are coming off/out...with SC, they all probably stay.

Porting is very time consuming and costly if you don't do it yourself and really only only gives minimal gains on a NA motor.

^^^not true about the minimal gains...the gains will be less nowadays because engines are built more efficient to begin with but it's still making a big difference when combined with all the other breathing mods, NA or not...the 2.2ohv, and the 2.2L ecotec motor I p&p made a huge difference, the engine just wanted to surge the second you pressed the gas..great mod, although I agree if you get a machine shop to do it, the money it costs would not be worth it on a NA engine...better to get a porting kit, slice into a garbage head if you can get one to find out where the waterjackets and castings are so you don't port too much....before I had kids, I lived for this stuff, now I don't have a hope in hell of having that kind of time.

The porting on this head will not be that intensive though because it already out flows many of the duratec/mzr/ecoboost heads. Where it will help you is to keep down carbon build up. The casting is very rough inside the runners which contributes to build up. Also because we are direct injection you can polish the hell out of the runners and not kill fuel atomization.

Do you have numbers showing gains from porting? The dyno numbers I witnessed first hand were a bit weak without other extensive mods. I ported my 4G63 head and turbo manifold,wastegate and downpipe to all match and got a tenth consistently in the 1/4 mile but since it was done by me and a friend it was a ok improvement but if I paid somebody to do it it would've been a poor bang for the buck mod.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! No dyno numbers but you are correct. Without extensive mods there is no point unless you are already in there.
