so i'm new to this stuff and the terminology, but i just want to clarify that i'm correct in the interpretation that DCT is basically the non-manual focus

Yeah, it's the Focus with the Dual Clutch Transmission (auto)

If you want to be technical, it's a automated manual transmission. Not what you'd traditionally call a automatic.

Tom, can you do like a 2 maps thing where its in normal mode when in D, and a more hardcore mode when in S mode???

The engine has no idea what mode you are in , why not make the engine efficient in both modes one manual and one automatic
