Crap, so even if I ask Tom (which I haven't) if he is able to tune out an EGR delete (meaning disabled EGR AND still pass a smog test) - if they are running ODBII test here, they will see it is disabled? Will it show as NA/gone or will it force a "Pass" on the EGR?
would love to hear your thoughts on that @1turbofocus

quick reply to myself as i've been researching the crap out of this today and other posters on other sites with other states gave me an idea so i looked up the ODBii Texas requirements and they say

For vehicles year model 2001 and newer, we allow one (1) non-continuous monitor to be Not Ready and still pass the test, but two (2) or more Not Ready's will cause the vehicle to fail.

so even if EGR delete and removed from ECU shows "not ready", as long as it is my only not ready - should be good ?

to clarify - my goal is to remove anything other than clean air from my intake - i've seen posts arguing that there is little performance to be gained from EGR and PCV delete, but combustion prefers cold dry air, so eliminating hot oily air can only be a plus. and so far the effort and cost is minor so, why not. Step 1 (easy stuff)

first step. we remove and replace the valve cover vent on the red line.

[IMG][/IMG]

with a k&n (why, cause i like k&n)

and plug the 1/4 NPT threaded hole it entered the intake.

cost: $22 for the filter

- and $10 for the plug
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Time to install, 5 minutes - slip off the valve cover side and tighten filter on. unscrew K&N intake side and thread plug. done.
