Focus mk. II Sony 6CD volume knob removal

Hello,

I've had a tablet mounted on top of the Sony 6CD for a long time, but recently got a bigger tablet, which will now overlap the volume knob on the Sony 6CD. I tried pulling the knob out from the front, but it doesn't just pop off. Is it easy to remove from the inside? Anyone tried? Can I still power on the radio with a pencil or something if I take it out?

I know you can get DIN replacements with Androids and whatnot, but I choose to have an external tablet in front of the radio, so I'd rather remove the knob, or just leave it if it's too difficult.

Ended up dremeling it off. For anyone trying to do this, be careful, as there is a metallic rod inside this knob, in the center. I took a mini hacksaw and cut that off too. You're then left with a small nubbin that you can press to power on the radio, but you won't have volume control, other than behind the steering wheel.
