Ford Focus sets a new standard for small cars at the great low price

DEARBORN, Mich., July 19, 1999 - The new Ford Focus, designed to raise the standard of what a small car should be with new levels of roominess, comfort, driving dynamics and safety, will be offered with base retail prices ranging from $12,280 for the 3-door hatchback ZX3 to $15,795 MSRP for the SE wagon. Prices include the destination and delivery charge of $415.

"Focus allows small car buyers to enjoy the comfort, roominess and styling of cars that cost thousands of dollars more, " said Jim O'Connor, Ford vice-president and Ford Division president. "Buying Focus means consumers don't have to make compromises, and can have great handling and styling at an affordable price."

The complete Focus lineup:
3-door hatchback $12,280
4-door LX sedan $12,540
4-door SE sedan $13,980
4-door SE wagon $15,795
ZTS 4-door $15,580

Focus comes laden with features not usually found in small cars. A manual seat height adjust is standard on all models for improved comfort and visibility. Focus offers one of the most complete safety and security packages available in its class, and is one of the first small cars to offer ISOFIX child-safety seat attachments.

Focus is powered by a choice of two-2.0-liter engines and a choice of manual or an all-new electronically controlled automatic transmission. Available engines are the lightweight, high-efficiency 2.0-liter 16-valve DOHC Zetec I-4 engine and the 2.0-liter SOHC I-4 split-port induction (SPI) engine. The SPI engine, which delivers 110 horsepower at 5,000 rpm, is standard on the LX and SE. The Zetec engine, rated at 130 h.p. at 5,300 rpm, is standard on the ZX3 and the ZTS.
