Crower 2 cams

Thinking about adding cams to my boost set up. Is there any head work besides springs and retainers needed to run the crower 2 FI cams?

My buddy Italo said the bigger valves won't really make a power difference without much much more boost. That was my original plan since one of my intake valves is screwed was to get all new 1mm larger valves with a port n polish

Thats what I'd do + seems like you need to replace them anyhow. Bigger valves flow more air /fuel whether its na or boosted + bigger valve's allow less boost vs more boost for smaller ones.

Right you are. I just scored a zetec head for great price. Gonna get the ford racing spring and retainer set and all new fel pro seals then find a good reputable shop to PnP it.

Bigger valves can actually flow WORSE if you don't open up the pocket under them to match the size increase. That's usually above a normal P&P thing and involves bore cutting tooling. It's when the port work starts really getting costly.

Think of low lift flow, you got a hole, it has a door over it. Remove that door and replace with a bigger door but leave the original hole alone. The bigger doors' more overlapping edge all the way around then CHOKES you low to mid flow and the big valve then does nothing. Can even be worse than before. The smaller valve actually impedes flow less at full open too if you start thinking in terms of around valve edge flow, the forced hard curve there is less and if there is one thing air flow hates more than anything it is being forced to turn harder.

Unless your going north of 425-450 HP , going to larger valves wont help

If you are going north of 500 hp you better find one heck of a good porting shop that knows what there doing and you need to find the correct head casting for it to all work

Yes there is a head casting thats needed to port large enough to get you to the higher # north of 600hp , I have never told anyone about this head but there out there and super hard to find

Thanks Tom. Ya you confirmed what my buddy Italo said as well. Gonna keep the stock valves and just port and polish this spare head and throw in the ford racing spring kit and new seals. Hopefully gain some hp from it
