Zetec turbo, rods and pistons?

Hi,

I hope you guys can help me.

I am currently building a turbocharged ford zetec engine and am looking to buy some uprated rods and pistons from across the pond (I'm in the UK) as you guys in the States seem to have a far better selection of products.

The engine I am building is what we call a Zetec E. It is the early 2000cc zetec with hydraulic valve shims and a bore x stroke of 85mm x 88mm as standard.

Could you recommend any reliable companies that could supply the rods and pistons?

I am interested in the Diamond forged pistons and Eagle rods from Mcnews.

I am unsure if they are designed for the later post '97 zetec with solid valve shims?

If so will they still fit my earlier engine? I think the only difference is the rod length / comp height? So if i use both rods and pistons from the later engine i should be ok?

Does any body have any experience of the Diamond pistons? Are they any good?

Are Mcnews regarded as a reliable dealer?

Any help / info will be really appreciated.

Many thanks,

Doug Cook.

Hmmmmmmmm.

there seems to be a lot of turbo zetec's being built right now from the UK.

But im unsure on your style of engine compared to mine, so i would not like to give you false information,..........................but i can say that i do all of my business with Ray,Nick, or Bobby at WWW.MCNEWSAUTOMOTIVE.COM Those guys are awsome and very helpfull, i would give them a call and see what they say but from what ive heard what works good is crowers rods, with JE pistons seems to be the hot setup today for turbo'd cars.

Nice to hear that McNews are a reliable supplier. I think they will get my business.

Any more feedback on the Eagle rods, Diamond pistons combo?

eagle rods are only reliable under 300whp and not good for high rpm motors..if you dont plan on doin more than 300whp and dont plan on takin it above 7k then they should be fine...i would go je turbo pistons, cheaper, and more people have them
