i tried searching here and on the internet, and i still couldnt find what i was looking 4.

im curious to c a flow chart for the oem zetec head to be able to compare it to the ford racing version...or at the very least the numbers for it. the closest i found was a chart on FS.

Sorry for the slow response.....
Try going to WWW.FOCUSSPORT.COM Or Call them and talk to RANDY
He can help you out with the stock and MODIFIED Flow Charts. The Ford racing head I heard was the best flowing on the market so..... Just give them guys a call and they can help !

the trouble with trying to compare flowbench tests is the same as trying to compare dyno plots... if they are all not done in similar conditions with the same equipment, it's damn near impossible to know the difference.

back in the day when esslinger did head packages they did flow bench testing and found the svt head to flow better than both the FR head and their stage II esslinger head, and the essy head flowed better than the FR (FR's port surfaces are pretty rough in comparison).

it does bolt up, but the svt head uses variable cam timing on the intake shaft. you would need an SVT computer to drive that...not to mention the fact that the only cams available for the svt head come from europe, and they're quite pricey. regular zetec cams will not work in that head

Dude thanks for the info, I have also been looking for similiar info on the diff between the SVT head and Zetec head and what it will take to swap. I understand how the Honda VETEC works, but the SVT works differently. From what I understand the SVT increases the timing as the RPMs go up by the oil pressure, please correct me if I am wrong and explain how the SVT head works its variable timing. Thank you!

thank u crazymechanic!

in light of the new info, would it be better performance wise if i bought a zetec head, and got it ported/polished, or would i still be better off w the FR head since it comes w oversized valves, and better springs/retainers?

I'd hold off for a little while. I know FS is working with cosworth on a zetec head, and I know turbo tom has something up his sleeve, so I'd wait until I started seeing numbers from them before I dropped money on the FR head

as for the VCT...the camshaft is bolted to a helical gear that is inside the cam gear. a piston inside the cam gear meshes with the helical gear. by modulating the oil pressure on either side of the piston, the piston moves, causing the helical gear to advance or retard the camshaft timing based on the PCM's commands. honda VTEC uses fixed timing cams with variable lift and duration. ford VCT uses fixed lift and duration cams with variable timing. honestly, I think the VTEC is more effective, but I don't wanna be caught dead driving a honda
