massive nos fuel rail adaptor leaking

I have disconnected the fuel pump fuse, in order to stop the leak coming from the pipe plugs on the adaptor.(ran all gas out of rail). I just installed this yesterday and after some tinkering with the plug screws they stopped leaking fuel and the pressure gauge read 35 psi at idle! This morning I checked the adaptor to make sure it was still good and the bottom plug is leaking again and the gauge is bouncing rapidly between 30-40 psi! Does anybody have first hand experience with this adaptor? I'm not to keen on sealing them off with Teflon tape, but that seems to be the next best thing? Any advice on sealing them would help

Use the Teflon tape its going to be the only way to seal it off , your going to need a good tune on there if you going nitrous

DON"T USE TEFLON TAPE!


Use an aerobic sealant.
This works very well


While I will agree that Teflon tape is useful. There are times when it shouldn't be used, and with any automotive fluid that is the case. The risk factor is just too great. Ask yourself what happens if a piece should come loose on assembly or dis-assembly and make it's way into the engine internals?
Was the trouble of using the correct part worth the cost of a new engine?


Case in point, I lost a brand new turbo because I cut corners and use tape. I was overzealous with it and a piece came off and made it's way into the bearing, which starved the bearing of oil. 100% my fault for not taking more time and using the right parts.

Yes it's the most commonly used sealant for threads, but it's the wrong choice for any automotive fluids.

Yes like with anything you do with cars you have to engage some common sense , I have a rule of thumb that no teflon tape goes on the last 2 threads to the end of the fitting

I saw a custom loose an engine where he put the gastek maker you linked with far to much and it went through the engine and got stuck in a rod journal and starved the bearing of oil and kicked a rod through the block , again common sense has to be used

massive nos leaking

Tried the Teflon tape today and it held up for maybe an hour then the pressure gauge started bouncing again. So next ill b trying the gasket maker, oh and Tom; ill b in touch with you soon about my tune! Thanks for the help everyone

I installed the Teflon tape and started her up, gauge read a steady 35 psi! I closed the hood and proceeded to drive home, when I got home from the car wash ( where I put the tape on to get out of the sun) I popped the hood and the gauge was bouncing between 30-40 psi. I can't see any fuel leaking from the pipe plugs any more but I'm 99% sure that's the problem. Thanks

The tape isnt going to cause the gauge to be jumping back and forth

Yeah I figured its a leak I cannot see! I'm going to remove the gauge until the nitrous kit arrives!

The difference between success and failure there, or simple thread wrapping technique.....I used teflon tape on heat exchangers destined for nuclear reactors, no issues at all if wrapped correctly. Boy they let you know about it if wrong though.

If you mean the gauge bounces to where you can't focus on needle, that's a cheap quality gauge there with no damping, it's normal for fuel pressure to vary.
