New York ECU flash 2.0 Zetec

I got an 01 se wagon, just did full 3" headers to tail. I have the cat efficiency code popping the check engine light. I would like to know if there is an ecu flash out there that "completes" the cuircuts for the cat and egr so they can be removed and can be inspected for daily driver without an issue?

yes and no. depends how far they look. Do you have a cat? regardless of going 3" you should not have a problem. if anything assuming the cat gets to the same temp it should be better due to a larger cross sectional area you have of the honey comb.

My guess is you have no cat. in that case any tune will just NA the report. so there will be no fails which generally equals you pass. if the person doing the inspection knows that you should have EGR, and CAT and all that then when it reports those functions back as NA they may raise a flag. Also if there is a visual inspection you will be hosed regardless if the don't see a cat

So do you have a CAT or no? Also its a 4 clyinder with only one header. no plural is needed. it bugs some people around here when that is used since those who work on v6 and larger really do have headers.

No i do not have a cat, I have full race style 4 to 1 manifold/header to 3" piping straight to the muffler and my apoligies on using "headers" instead of "header". Furthermore is there a buisness you would recommend for the flash and would i need to do anything else in order for the car to accept the flash.

its going to be a few hundred bucks to tune it and get the car to run correctly. Tom on here is a good guy and knows a lot. (1TurboFocus is his name on the forum). going to cost you about $400 or so but does not guarantee a pass.

there are mill cheaters you can get if you still have the O2 bungs to support an O2.

Did you do any research before you put in a full length race exhaust? sorry don't want to come across like a jerk but it sounds like you should have looked a bit more into what was needed and whats available.

I will give you some time to use the search feature and also you can browse the C-F-M.com website. you should be able to come to your answers.

Did you block off your EGR? or did you keep that plumed in? if you blocked it off / removed it you will have to go with a program approach (few have been able to trick it with out a program...) but with a full race exhaust you are going to want to have a tune any way otherwise you will lean out at WOT.

"MIL Cheaters" refers to ways to avoid having a MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) light when doing a modification that bypasses part of the emissions system, typically a CAT converter.

Zetec & Duratec performance sections have threads/stickies on installing a header & modifications to help make it work. Electrical adapters have been used as well as mechanical adapters (spacers/anti-foulers) to "fool" the system by changing the reactions of downstream O2 sensors.

This doesn't help actual engine operation, tuning is still needed to take advantage of the changed exh. flow. It can be a help in passing emissions inspection as the ECU is still "seeing" normal operation when the "cheat" works adequately.

(As mentioned, visual inspection isn't "fooled" by this)
