Focus Central 65mm Throttlebody

Hey there , I have a 2000 zx3 and I'm looking at buying a used 65mm focus central throttle body.

Who has this on their focus? How big of a difference/what kind of differences does it make with the 5 speed? Any issues with this kind of TB? let me know guys. Just starting to make my zx3 not so stock.

I do, the throttle becomes very touchy, not too bad, after an hour or so you will be fine. With my car and my mods I got another 5-10 hp. I would do some exhaust or cold air intakes mods first. however if you want a steal on one mlbbaseball has one for 110. Should I pm you a link to his profile?

Is your FoFo manual or dogomatic?? Big difference with TPS you should be aware of. Manual TPS you can buy aftermarket, automatic TPS you have to buy OE with the throttlebody (PITA). I just made sure I was very gentle when I took mine off of my TB to put on the BBK 65mm.

Edit - noob for not reading through your post. With a 5 speed I think it should bolt right in. You get a gasket?

I have FC 65mm TB on the zx3 I bought from a buddy, having owned and driven many foci (SPI sedans manual and auto Zetec Sedans both manual and auto, and same with hatches) the throttle on my zx3 is extremely responsive, although theres a handful of mods I have that add to it, but one tip... make sure you use a good hose clamp, I did a pull today and my regular screw clamp came off the TB, I bought a stronger one about an hour ago and it feels great now!... I would say if its something you want, and its fairly priced, do it :P

So, let's say I was gonna do a K&N drop-in air filter, stock box, no swiss-cheesing the box just bone-stock box. ....would the 65mm throttle body still be worth it in your opinions??. .. .or would it be more responsive to a cold-air or short ram intake? . . ..??

The stock throttle body is not a real bottleneck till you start going to FI or try making NA big power. With the TB mod you will notice snappier throttle response and you will be able to make use of engine braking due to a smaller bypass on the 65mm TB.

The larger TB makes the throttle a lot more responsive. I would deff recomend it.

Read your other thread, you should spend that money on maintenance first, then maybe intake/exhaust/headers/tune/camshaft/adjgear/dyno i guess. really the throttle body isn't a big deal because it doesn't really make power unless the car is built. It'll give you that butt feel but what good does that do you if your car still falls over itself because it still can't breathe.
