Aftermarket Stainless Steel Exhaust Questions..

I have a stock exhaust that I replaced about 2 years ago and its already starting to rust, I really wish I had gotten a stainless steel one instead. I have a K&N CAI and I think a stainless steel exhaust would help make the car sound better as well as improve the HP a bit and also last longer than a stock non stainless steel exhaust.

My question is, what is the best exhaust to get for a good sound, horsepower and quality product? It does have to be reasonably affordable, as well. I was also wondering if these are fairly easy to install because I didn't install the stock one I brought it to mechanics.

My car is a 2003 ZX3 2.0l DOHC.

Also, if anyone is selling a fairly new/used exhaust let me know if you are willing to ship because I would be interested in buying.

Both my buddy and I have escort zx2 with trubendz exhaust. I have the borla version, and he has the magnaflow version. I wish I had gotten the magnaflow version. The borla sounds "ricey" in my opinion. It has a higher pitch to it and is much too aggressive for me. The magnaflow version is much deeper and isn't as aggressive. Also, if you want less rasp, get a resonator with it. (They have the resonator as an add on option.)

thank you for your input, I read reviews on it between the two and I agree with your statement. I am going to get a magnaflow exhaust. Now the other question is, when I click to order an option, it brings up these 2 options for magnaflow.. whats the difference??

$345.00 Magnaflow 6x14 Inch
$345.00 Magnaflow 6x14

This is the so you know what im talking about. http://www.mandrelexhaustsystems.com...EXHAUST/Detail

I'm running a 2.5" stainless and like it. Some say that a 2.5" exhaust is too big for n/a applications, but I disagree. The one downside to 2.5" is that it's a little louder than the 2.25". I don't think it's obnoxiously loud.

As for the different magnaflow options, I'm not sure. I'd call them and ask them about it.

2.5" is actually a better size for the car than 2.25". If you were going turbo then 3" would be better.

Bottom line; less restriction=more power, bring me a dyno sheets that shows different.

warning: rock a 3" exhaust on a stock car and get called a rice box, I'd recommend just sticking with 2.5" or 2.25" which ever is cheaper. You need a full header no cat to see some actual power gains. From the Cat-back you might see 5hp towards the top which is seat of the pants kind of feel you get from being able to hear your exhaust. Also if this is your Daily driver, just get the resonator. It doesn't change the sound so much as it almost eliminates the drone, which you will have to listen to all the time on your commute and at stops. With the resonator you only hear the sweet engine sounds when you crack open the throttle to get on it.
