Cracked oil pick up?

I was tightening the bolts down to the 84 inch pounds and the plastic housing on one of the legs cracked. Should I be worried? i have it TQ'd down to spec. but there is the crack. Should I just patch it with glue? I have heard there are some metal ones available?

Thanks

There are harmonics thought the engine. Which also means any crack will spread.

Replace it now while you have easy access.
No need to go metal.

I have seen the pictures of the metal ones. They looks like they would flow better. I will see what I can get. It may be a short work day on Monday as I head out to the junk yard for a long lunch brake.

I do over 8,000 RPM daily and have zero oiling issues.
Flow isn't an issue.
Plastic works just fine.

From OEM its $68 for the Metal vs $55 for the plastic. the extra $12 may be worth it... I cracked the stock one using a TQ wrench tightening to OEM spec. Dont want to brake another one.

I'd go with metal as well, plastic parts appear to do well but only for the short haul, I haven't seen a Ford plastic part yet that touches oil or coolant that with longer use didn't begin to biodegrade into something less. The crack may be that happening, if you run like thermo housings long enough, pull them off and look at the myriad cracks beginning inside, same with valve covers. I've seen them where a finger nail could pull up big chunks of plastic that then crumbles to dust.

If the part cracked and not crooked or mismounted and at normal torque it is telling you DON'T USE ME. If on your trick motor, dump it as fast as you can.

Yep it is. There are a few members parting out SVT's on this site so am seeing if I can get a metal one from them at a reasonable price.

Thanks.
