A 5mm 6 point socket/wrench will also work to remove those studs.

a 5 mm is almost as common as the inverse TQ bits also... but you can usually buy the 5mm standalone where the inverted TQ are usually in sets.

Guess it all depends on the tools you have in your arsenal. I don't have any reverse tq tools. I work on more metric engines and vehicles than standard, so that probably explains why I have a couple 5mm sockets in my box.

5mm socket for $2.50 or $3.00 at Sears.

If you are going to pull out the porting tools you could also look into cleaning up the rough castings and harsh transition from the tube on the BBK. I wasn't really all that impressed with mine so I put a better transition on it and polished it up a bit.

That TB looks a ton better. I didn't have time for the install this past weekend bcuz I am moving into our new home. House takes precedence... perhaps I will have a bit of time just to polish up my TB this weekend.

Did you guys see any gains from the TB install? Or just a snappier throttle response and the ability to engine brake? please let me know.

A TB is not really a bottle neck in the air intake system on our cars. There are other items. on a Dyno you might see some increase in power however in real world application you wont feel any more power. The throttle may be a little "snappier" But I think some have said that that also can be a placebo effect.

That stock throttle body is laughable... What's up with that ridiculous plastic wedge throttle plate design? That wedge on it's own is a resistance to flow. Then you take into account the odd angle inlet..... WTF? Not sure who designed something like that but it is less than optimum for any kind of performance!

I agree that the TB isn't as much of a restriction as the very small diameter intake runners are on the Zetec.

Not sure about a stock head. However, with a set of cams and port matched intake the 65mm throttle body is much snappier and that is not a placebo. There are also gains to be had if you tune for the change.

Problems

Okay, so I went to do the install and my linkage does not match up with the TB. All the pics that I have brought up, including Ghost Tribute's, indicate that I have the right TB, just not the right linkage???? I don't understand? I matches with my old TB. Perhaps the model year is off? I will post some pics soon, maybe you gents have some input. I dunno......
