axle shaft seals

2 dealership parts department have no idea and keep pushing me towards duratec parts, this is what I have found

would this be correct?
I've found many pics on this site but none of the axle shaft seals.
The dealer seem to not have a clue but only oreilly and napa web sites showing anything.I just need to know so I can order them and replace my axles, anytime you remove the passenger knuckle the center CV joint comes right out freely. Discovered that swaping struts.
Why does ford deny their own motorcraft part #

That is the seal that gets pressed into the transmission where the axle goes into it. The Ford P/N is F5RZ-1S177-AA. It is for all Focus' including the Duratec.

DOH, I'll have ordered from CFM now 3 times in the past month almost. Yeah I don't see how I missed that Thanks Mr.Bergner.
I think the stealership wanted over 30$ a piece for them. I do need 2 of them right?
and they go in the tranny? This is an over looked detail in many how to's I've read.

Yep, you'll want two of them.

I'm kicking myself for not replacing them when I replaced an axle not long ago.

I recently replaced both axles, both axles seals, both hubs and both wheels bearings. The job wasn't too bad at all actually. Mind you that everything else up front on my car is brand new (less than 1 month old), and lubed well.


The worst parts:

The snap ring on the backside of the wheel bearing. Soak this thing REAL good if you live in the rust belt. I didn't and it seriously took us 20 minutes to get one out.

The original axel seals were a pain in the but to get out as well. I was pretty limited on the tools i had too. If I had to do it again, I'd use a slide hammer or something similar and a toggle bolt with rubber caps on the "butterfly".

Putting the seals back in was easy with the right "tool". I used some 2x4 wood i had laying around and placed the seal on the wood, traced the inside & outside hole diameter and "notched" a spot for the seal to sit into the wood. I greased the seal with high temp moly lube, placed it against the transmission and tapped it in. Goes it straight and easy this way.

Other people have used PVC pipe the same diameter as the seal to tap it in.
