ZETEC VCT or NON-VCT??? WHO KNOWS

okay so here is what i have, im building a 2001 zetec that i bought with about 20000 miles on the block it has vct though because it came out of a 2001 cougar i want to put crower stage 2 forced induction cams in it but dont know if they will work with the vct or is it just better to go with a non vct focus head is there any major power gain with vct that makes it worth the hassel?????

other stuff you may need to know
-20 to 25psi boost.
-eagle h beam conecting rods.
-jp forged pistons.
-greddy emanage
-greddy e-01 boost controler
-8.4 : 1 COMPRESSION
-3"down pipe
-stage 5 cluch master cluch
please help no one seams to have an answer

That head will not work with those cams. Switch to a focus head and then you can use those cams. There is no gain in using the VCT heads. The VCT was for emissions use only on our cars. Other than that sounds like your on your way to a very nice build

i am looking for a vct zetec head like the one on your car. Keep us posted on whether you decide to swap to focus head. Could use this head from cougar engine :)

I just noticed for tuning your using greddy emanage, why? You can easily tune the stock ECU using a flasher from SCT that is much cheaper. We also have good tuners to get the FI tune from along.

There has been several occasions that a properly tuned VCT motor has made more power than one with a VCT delete and adjustable gears.

But yes, you cannot run standard zetec cams on a VCT motor. The journals are not the same size.

Agree loose the emanage , yes get a Focus head , you dont need the VCT and it makes no more power

Okay I have decided to go with the focus head and forget the vct. And I'm very new to runners use to Chevy small blocks so explain a little how a ecu flash works and also yes thevct head will have to go haha
