NA power improvment questions
I have looked through some of the questions on here and I have a few. This is what is going on currently.
2002.5 ZX5
ZF dog bone.
SVT Header/Cat
Focussport exhaust with silencer
Pre-2000 intake manifold
Volant intake - both entrances opened.
SCT flash 91 octane tune.

What would be my next step and a round about cost? I understand labor would be different in most case, just a rough estimate or link to parts. I have someone that is really good on labor and really good at working on the car.
He mentioned a port and polish.

I see a lot of adjustable cams comments, I am only familiar with what I have replaced in the past so anything I have not touched before, I am a virgin on.
I do not want to go with a UDP since I want all my accessories.

The car right now is running very well and I love the power it has but I would like more. This is my daily driver baby with 106k on the dial and I want to keep it a daily driver.

I have been thinking of getting a new ST but I would like to know my options before hand since I really like the look of mine more.

If I go with a turbo setup, I will just end up going with a new car. Not sure I want to invest 3.5-5 grand into the car and the wife doesn't understand those kinds of things. For some reason a new car is justified but spending 1k's less is not.

Update you tune for those mods and add a wide band air fuel gauge

Surface the head and add some cams with adj cam gears , it looks like that your next best power gain

Tune was set specifically for those mods.
I will look into the surfacing and the cams. Do you have any ideas what kind of power I would get from those in a normal application?
Anything I should know about the surfacing? I saw in another thread, something about heat.

Does that mean you gave your tuner a list of mods and he sent you a tune for those mods , of that you did datalogs and sent them to him to get a custom tune after getting your base tune ?

It was through Focussport. I gave them a complete list of all my modifications, they sent my SCT with the custom tune. Granted, yes, I did not go to a dyno with them and fine tune everything. I figured that since these were all essentially bolt on mods, it is fine for now.
If I go through the process of cams and such, a dyno tune is a must and it would get done.

No , you dont need to go to a dyno , you have a tune that is a best guess , cookie cutter , off the shelf , you need to send datalogs to your tuner and get adjustments made to make the custom tune you paid for , they should of asked for datalogs , I ask all my customers for datalog to get them the best tune they can get , you could be giving up 0 to who knows how much HP and engine safety as well

EVERYONE should be sending datalogs to there tuner to get a custom tune , no 2 Foci are the same so the base tune file is just that a base tune file , if you dont have your tune checked (datalog) how do you know its safe and doing all it can do , thats what you paid for , right ?

Your tuner should be giving you a list of things to datalog so they see what needs to be seen to make the proper adjustments to your tune

Ok, I will see about doing that, thanks for the heads up.
Watching some videos on how to data log now.

Tom has a good walkthrough in the ECU section.

Not to bust your balls but your tuner should be helping you with datalogging and sending you a list of what he feels he needs to have datalogged to get you the safest / best performance tune , after all that is what you paid for

With my customers I take over there laptop connected to the car and set up the datalog list and do the first datalog like I was sitting in the car with them , showing you how to use the software , save the list and how to send the list

You should of been told all this already , if you want this level of service just let me know I will be glad to help you

Believe it or not at this point in your build, if its a manual tranny, you should consider an aluminum flywheel.

The Focus has a heavy flywheel that robs horsepower. An aluminum flywheel will reduce the rotating mass weight and improve acceleration.

Change your clutch while your at it.

After the head and some cams and gears you can get serious and think about individual throttle bodies.

But then you need a real dyno tune.
