a use transmission without torque converter

i have a ford focus 2001 zetec engine, the problem is that the transmission is broken, and i did find a sohc transmission and is was working good, this is the question, can i put the torque converter that it was in my old transmission? this is because the sohc transmission didnt have the torque converter. thank you so much for your help
