still deciding on which one to get winter bout to come up so i might just get a sri. but during the spring and summer just reinstall the stock intake.

I bought my Pitch Black SVT 5 door in June and am just delving into what I can do, I like easy and an intake seems it fits the bill. With the short intakes I see I can gain about 5 hp but what about my mileage, I don't want to give away 28-30 mpg(depending on how hard I jump on it.) Any hints.

An air intake will increase your mpg, not decrease. Its actually the reason why i'm getting one. You may see 2-3 mpg increase on the highway, but no guarantee on that. I'm making my own and only cost $70, its both a CAI and Ram intake.

I had an AEM CAI in PA for...2 years or so, never had any issues with sucking up water (but i sure did try ;D) Although in retrospect, perhaps testing the bypass valve at WOT in deep-ass puddles maybe wasnt the wisest choice... Anyway, the only problem i had with it was the bypass valve was a weakpoint in the intake itself - I went through two of them breaking in half just from "normal" driving. the intake itself i was very pleased with. Good sound, good response, good power. But after the second valve broke and i ran over the bottom section of my own intake, i'd had enough. Since then i've tried a weapon R intake (DONT!!) it was a POS with very low build quality, and my current Injen which I love. Can tell a minor difference in power, especially when it's hot outside, but not much. And it sounds much more ballsier since the piping is a little bigger. Hope this helped someone!

Don't get a short ram the suck in all the heat. Go with a AEM type CAI or something like it. They make a Bomz CAI on ebay that it just like the AEM only it isn't at painted.
