couple engine questions

i have two questions...

1) is the FC big crank pulley kit the stock size?

and 2) my friend has stock focus cat... now i want to pass inspection, and in order to do this i need a cat. so, would just gutting that and putting it on help at all, or would it somehow hurt? my other option is buying an offroad pipe and jsut putting that cat on for inspection. however, since i can get the cat for free, i'd rather do this if it would help. thanks!

Stay away from gutting cats. They don't really do anything and often create problems. Why cant you just put it on and as soon as you are passed get rid of it? Can't say about the pulley. I know the kits usually utilize the stock belt. Dunno?
