Tire and wheel question

I have a 14 Focus SE and I am wanting the larger tires (235) and bigger wheels, (18). Would this be possible to do or does the ST have larger stuff to do? Thanks

The titianium NA Focus came with that same tire size. Have a look around the MK3 section of the forum and you see people running that size all day. I am slammed on coilovers and run 235/40/18s and don't rub.

Ive read that some models have some sort of rub guard equipped like the St does. I don't know if that's true or accurate but I've heard people who do rub with St wheels equipped on a normal focus

Never heard of that. I would need to see this because I've been on the forums for three years and the only time someone rubs is when they jump to 19s and go low. I do know that the Titaniums with the handling pack did come with spacers. They weren't necessary but they did.

I'd lower it first & then make sure you either use the oem wheel/tire assembly or the right offset aftermarket wheels.

OEM 16 inch tire size and OEM 18 inch tire sizes are virtually the same heights

Moved to Wheels & Tires.

There are a number of threads here detailing fitments, and a stickie at the top on std. sizes to help match wheels & tires that have the same overall diameter without needing to calculate & guess. (Stock size tires for each rim diameter)

The one spot you may rub is when you're turned to full lock. The ST, and I'd guess the Titanium Handling Package cars, have a steering limiter to prevent this. When I had my ST, I found it nearly impossible to make a u-turn on streets that I've done it on in the past, and would have been able to do it on in a regular MK3 Focus.

This really should only affect low speed maneuvering, so as long as you pay attention to what you're doing and how you're doing it, you should be fine running a 235/40-18, depending on the offset of the wheels you go with.
