Has anyone tried this tire? I'm getting ready to get some GOOD all season tires and I was thinking about this one. I have the OEM Contis on right now, but I will be traveling more for school this winter and want to make sure I will be ok. What are good all season tires? I would get some Winter Tires, but for one, I have no where to store tires, nor have a jack, etc. I figured All Seasons, and go to the local tire place to get the tires. I believe the local tire shop will order the tire you want and put them on your car.

Perhaps you have another good all season? I'm not so worried with the summer conditions as the winter conditions. Summer doesn't really scare me as much lol. I drove half my summer last year with a truck with 4 different tires and made it (just couldn't hit a puddle of water lol...story for another day) but yeah, all jokes aside.

Thanks.

Edit: I have thought about getting the BLIZZAK WS80 since it has GREAT ratings for summer and winter and is relatively inexpensive. Is there a reason as to why not to get them? http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....95&sortSize=15

Those Blizzak's are a winter/snow tire, I would not recommend them in the summer.

As far as a good A/S I'm going with Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2, they've got great reviews and are well priced. I also would recommend Continental ExtremeContact DWS', had them on my last car and really enjoyed them -- I just wanted to try Hankook as I never have used them.

What about CINTURATO P7 ALL SEASON PLUS? They are a bit expensive though :-/. Has anyone tried those? In WV sometimes we get decent sized snow, but the hills is what makes it rough. Plus, there is a good chance of some highway driving.

Continental Extreme Contact DWS is a high performance all season. Far better in snow than the OEM tires and the dry and wet traction is fantastic.

These tires are highly rated on Tire Rack. I don't have them on my Focus but on our Subaru, have been very happy with them. The rating show they are better that the Continental DWS tires.

The OEM Continental tires and stories about the DWS having soft sidewalls turned my off to those tires.

Imho, the price on them is not bad at all, $112 for the OEM 16" wheel size.

Funny a search on Google about soft sidewalls yields little results of complaints and those complaints are about 5 years old. Tires get revised from time to time. I've never felt the stiffness of the tire off the wheel, but what I can tell you is if they do have a soft sidewall like [very few] claim, it certainly does not have a negative impact on cornering ability.

The Cinturatos have 1/10 the star rating clicks as the Contis. Not a good comparison on that.

Fair enough. Its just what I came up with when looking into the tires.

Also the Cinturatos are newer than the DWS, so I would expect it to have less star clicks. I was looking at the tire survey ratings when comparing the tires, not the star rating, which just checking is 4.5 vs 4 ...

I think either are a good choice, but based on the OEM tires on my car and what research I did I couldn't bring myself to buy DWS tires.

What are you running with now? I could barely drive in the winter with the OEM tires. I somehow managed to make it through two winters on them. Obviously OEM tires aren't meant to be the best of the best. You'll find there are many many people in this community running the DWS and are very happy with them. I just put on my second set because even toward the end they still had more traction than the OEM guys.

I completely understand the OEM tires where crap, I had issues in the winter also.

I currently have Blizzaks on stock wheels for the winter and I am running Potenza RE970AS on 18" wheels for the other three seasons.

I stacked the Potenzas up against the DWS and a Goodyear tire and for how I drive and what I was looking for there where the best choice. I didn't need to compromise to get better winter performance.

Currently have the Cinturatos on the Impreza and again have been very happy with them all around. By the tire survey numbers they do it all and do it well. The stock Yokohama Avid S34D tires started making noise after the first tire rotation. Turns out the rear alignment was off which lead to bad wear on the tires. However there where tires with much better ratings and for a lot less than $200 a piece in this case.

Again in this case for how the wife drives I did look into the DWS tires again. Just felt that the Cinturatos where a better pick after looking at the tire ratings.

I've seen some comments on a new version of the DWS coming out, and one change is a stiffer sidewall for quicker response. Currently on the market from the posts I read.

Moving this to the Tires & Wheels section to join the other tire threads for reference.
