You can chrome practically anything. Some objects need to be plated with different metals before the final chrome layer will adhere. This may be what your father is thinking about. Its not always a simple dunk in the cleaning tank and then into the chrome platting tank. The kind of alloy the wheel is made out of will determine the process as well as the cost. There is usually considerable costs associated with rechroming or chroming painted wheels as they have to be completely stripped and cleaned to surgical like standards to get a quality finish and adhesion. Normally its better to start the process with raw metal surfaces.

well unlike some people, i dont have a ton of money to be spendin on new rims for my car...and i like shiny stuff, and i also like my stock rims...so chroming my stock rims for a different look was the easiest thing that my bf and i could come up with...

i noticed you have the 15" stockers. Here is a link on Ebay for new chrome ones, that would probably be cheaper than having yours chromed:

15" chrome wheels on Ebay

In addition, they also have the stock 16" rims chromed:

16" chrome wheels on Ebay

i know this auction is ending soon, but its just to give you and idea. And if your interested, you can just talk to the guy selling.

Hope these links may have helped you out! Good luck!!

You need a new bf, lol. I wouldn't get my stock wheels chromed.......you can get chrome rims relatively cheap and sell your stockers on ebay. I did that with my 97 tbird.
