Angry Word of advice for everyone.........

if you are planning on buying these dumb shit little valve stem caps, the chrome one's and they come in all differrent colors, don't! Or if you do, don't be like me and leave them on all winter without at least checking them. I had these little ****ers on the Exploder and they rusted onto the whole valve stem, well we sprayed WD-40 to see if they would come lose and today, the whole valve stem came off, and well the tire went flat.
I feel soooo stupid. Now I have to go buy the whole valve stem for now , until I get new tires! And good thing it happened now, because I had gotten some for the Focus, that say Focus on them and well, good thing I didn't put those on.
Anyway, yeah, stick to the rubber one's.
Just a word of advice.

Ok, I am done.

P.S they got stuck on all 4 of them. Ugh.

a friend of mine had them on his passat, we finally gave up and cut them off with a dremel tool. didn't have to change the stems though.

Wow, never even thought of that before... I've considered getting some of those, maybe not now, huh? I guess you could always put a little something on the threads when you first install them to keep them "lubed up" maybe.

Carmen you guys drove a whole winter in the Explorer without ever checking the tire pressure??

I did like twice and then from Jan. to now, I haven't, until now. Yeah , I know I am dumb, but it kept slipping my mind, I was more worried about the engine light.

Did you have rubber or steel valve stems ?

OT:
btw: I've heard those magnetic ribbons will leave residue and discoloration on some cars depending on weather conditions( snow/salt seems to speed up the process) and duration they are left on the car.
So, those of you who have them might want to remove them periodically and take a look underneath.

They were steel, or whatever, no rubber, if they have rubber that probably would have never happened.
And when we were trying to cut them off, you could see this red glue crap over the stem?
Like they came with some glue or something, anyway, I hate those things and yeah.
I hope it doesn't happen to any of you and you have to get new tires like me.

The first winter I had my focus, I had a set of those on, come spring when I went to change my tires, I had to replace the valve stems as well, never bought a replacement set after that.

Well, I haven't touched mine since last summer and they came off pretty easy.
Mine are chrome except for a little o-ring inside.

Odd that there was some red/glue stuff on there. Maybe it was the o-ring and somehow, it melted and got all sticky ...?...

When was the last time you removed them ?

Lats time was in Dec. at work, to put air in my tire and well yesterday Kev tried and he was ready to hang me, he thought I tightened them with something else, and no I only hand tightened them, so I'm already on death row for this. LOL

God, I wanna go crawl in a hole and dissappear now..........................
