bent rim

I bent a rim this morning after hitting one of our famous Massachusetts potholes. Several questions....

1. I have the stck wheels (silver, spoke-like, 15") - how pricey are these at the stealer or should I just look at boneyards?

2. Anyone have any experience repairing these? How successful/expensive is this?

3. Which of the numerous numbers on the rim is the part number? I have 6JX15H2, ET525 and YS41-CC...

Any advice appreciated.....

Ray

Try the junkyards , first, then browse Ebay.
Then use the dealer as a last resort, or um, can't get a new set, I take it?
It's cool, I know how it is.

I bent my SVT rim and it only cost me $100 to fix and refinish the rim. Just call a tire and wheel shop and ask them where you could get it fixed at. They are kind of hard to find in the phone book and they don't advertise too much cause they do all the work for the tire and rim shops. Any ways, locate one of those and get it fixed there.

I thought a new rim is only $108? At least that's what new EAP rims cost. Also, how do your tires look? On ebay you can get 16" alloy takeoffs with new pirellis on them for around $350, I think. If you need new tires, might as well get some nice factory 16's with them...

New EAP rims for $108? If you can find them for that buy them all cause they must be nuts. The normal 5 spoke svt rim goes for $250 new.

I just went through this last year. I have a '00 ZTS with the stock rims and I bent one when I had a blow out. I couldn't find a used one anywhere. A new one from the dealer was $250 and it would take a week to get it in. So I ended up buying a cheap set of Z-racing rims from sears for the same price.

I bent a stock 16" rim just a few months ago... no, you can't fix alloys; at least from everyone I asked. I know that if you go to your local Discount Tire, or Belle Tire they can get wheels for less than $200. Might wanna try that out first; get a possible wheel & tire combo? Anywho - I lucked out and got a replacement wheel off Ebay... Try that also, lots of wheels on there. Good luck
