using 4 bolt mustang rims

OK so the 4 bolt Mustang rims that FRPP sells are 17 x 8 with a 5.15 inch backspacing.

the RS Focus 18 x 8 rims have a backspacing of 6.187 inch

the stock SVT 17 x 7 rims have a backspacing of 5.94 inch

If you use the RS fenders and Front bumper ...could the Mustange 17x8 inch rims work?

If not, why? And what course of action(s) would need to be taken?

Thanks,

Dennis

the spacing for the Mustang rim is MORE than the SVT Focus rim but LESS than the RS Focus so trying to balance the backspacing using spacers would be crazy, no? The RS tire is 225/40R18(25.1" diameter) so using a 235/45R17(25.3" diameter) shouldnit make that big of a difference. Even a 245/40R17 with a 24.7 diameter is reasonable.

food for thought.

stock focus has an offset of 52mm
The svt has a offset of 49mm
RS Focus has an offset of 42

I'm using 17 x 7 rims with 215/40/17 tires now....I've seen 225/45's used on SVT's before. Did you read the posts ealier in this thread explaining the diameter of an 245/40/17 tire compared to a 225/45/18? The 17 rim/tire combo is actually 4/10ths of an inch smaller of a diameter.

This is a chopped up thread from another forum

that being said does anybody have anything to add?

Thanks,

Dennis

I was planning on using the RS front bumper and fenders.

the FRPP # is M-1007-R54 for the 4 bolt mustang rims

a bolt pattern for a SN95(94 + ) mustang is 5x4.50". The older mustangs(79 - 93) were 4x4.25".

The backspacing inchs:

SVT WHEEL: 5.94"
RS Wheel: 6.187"
4 Lug Mustang: 5.15"

The problem with the mustang rim is that it will sit out and will have issues with the fender flares. The RS panels add about .5"

The 4 lug wheels were never put on a production mustang. They are recast wheels from a 5 lug, but are drilled/offset to 4 lug specs

Hope this helps.

all good info...especially about the recasting

So I could just use hub spacers to get the rim back away from the struts ...I think...yes or no?
