If anything, it's overkill for my car for street driving haha. Not a bad thing though and they are truly amazing tires. Dry grip, comfort, steering feedback, and wet weather handling are all great.

I ran Pilots on my 2011 Focus and loved everything about them, and was certain I would put a set on my '13 hatch. However the more due diligence I did I was convinced to go Conti DWS. I did and I have no regrets. I saved some money ( which was not my main goal ) and have a great ride. I still prefer the look of the sidewall on the Pilots, but all other factors convinced me to go Conti DWS.

Too much tire for such a underperforming car.

Pretty much and is why I went with the Conti DWS on the Focus and put the Michelins on the Subi for summer time duty.

Question Michelin Super Sports Too Much Tire For a Focus?

Do you mean there is little to no performance advantage over a lesser tire, due to limitations in the car?

What if the Focus was a 2003 SVT?

I may be oversimplifying here....putting the same tires on a 160 hp Focus as on a 300 hp BMW, seems overkill to me...in addition the Pilot Super Sports at temps 40*F and below gave me nothing but wheel hop...AND at 14,000 miles were toast.

Having to buy new tires I was prepared to go with Nitto's, BUT after Michelin pro-rated the Super Sports, it was cheaper for me to stay with Michelin. However this time I went with the Super Sport A/S. So far I can't name anything missing---grip is great both dry and wet, and they are Super Quiet & Smooth.

I'm running the Pilot Super Sports on my '07 ST. The chassis can handle them no problem. I don't see why anyone would call them overkill.

The Focus can seriously dance with a set of PSS's. First time I took them on a twisty road after installing them, not even broke in yet, I was absolutely shocked at what they can do.

I run DWS as a winter tire. It's a great tire for an all-season, but it doesn't compete with the PSS the rest of the year.

Only down-sides to the PSS are price and tread-life. I'm almost hitting the wear bars at 20k, while the DWS would go to 35k for me. They do have a 30k tread-life warranty though, so I can get a credit on the next set.

Edit;
I'm at the wear bars at 24k and putting a new set of Michelin PSS on Friday.
