All from something that is mearly held to your car buy air! Think about that the next time your looking for the cheapest tire you can get!

Sorry to have to correct you on this. Top three tire companies are Michelin, Bridgestone and Goodyear. Anything other than that you are getting in to second and third tier tires. There is no such thing as a good tire or a crap tire. Tires are a set of compromises they are designed to accomplish a certain goal, some for longevity, some for fuel mileage some from highway, on-off road, cut chip resistance, mud, snow. They are not built in good and bad tiers. You are also incorrect when speaking of the O.E. tires which are original equipment tires. Many people are confused by what this means and how these tires are developed. These types of tires are spec'd out by the vehicle manufacturers. Currently all manufacturers are working to meet cafe standards set by our government for fuel mileage. The tires are built with a very low rolling resistance which in terms of fuel mileage is awesome. However these tires will not get you the mileage longevity of a tire that is rated to 60K + miles. Just as tires that come with tread mileage warranties will not have the ability to get you the same fuel mileage that an O.E. tire will or a tire that is designed for better fuel economy. The vehicle manufacturers did not go to tire companies and say hey! give me the cheapest thing you got. All manufacturers are trying to get lighter and better fuel mileage and thats what O.E. tires are designed to do.

I'm a fan of Nitto and Michelin. Quite pricey but they wear well and provide good traction.

I'd think you'd say Toyo over Nitto as Toyo is the parent company of Nitto. Same as Michelin & BF Goodrich.

I don't really care about brands. I buy the best tire available for my needs and desires, based on research. I currently have Michelin, Continental, Kumho, and Yokohama tires for my vehicles. When replacement time comes, I will do my research over again and pick the best tire once again, regardless of brands. I'm the same way with everything. I currently own Ford, Chevy, and Suzuki automobiles, and a Honda and a BMW motorcycle.

Yes indeed. I currently have Continental ExtremeContact DWS on 16" stockers on the Focus for winter and slapping on a set of 17" Michelin Pilot Super Sports this weekend for Summer. I had Goodyear GS-D3s less than a week after buying my Focus back in '06. Hated the Pirellis that came with the car, but I've also had some great Pirellis in the past. Every tire is a compromise...

Yea you got that right. I sold my oem wheels/tires w/ in 4000 miles & went w/ svt wheels yrs ago. I run the dws's also living up here & not wanting to switchout tire/wheels. They work great in snowy/icy, rainy conditions but give up in the corners, in warmer weather, so I'll take that compromise vs folding the car up in a ditch or slamming into something in the winter.

Same choice I'd make with one set of wheels. I have summer tires(year round) on my Impala. It doesn't go where it snows...
