2012 tire sizes

Hey I'm currently running 215/55R16 tires on my 2012 focus. I just found a pretty good deal on 18" rims and tires but the tires are 235/45r18. I'm just wondering if anyone has tried tires out this size or not and would it cause any problems with my speedometer?

I think |Heath_Bar| has that size, I have 235/50/17 so it's comparable enough, I think it's about 1.8 mph off at 60 mph iirc.

Those will be, as said, about 2 mph off at 60.

Not a huge deal, but they visibly taller than a stock Ti/ST tire.

They reduce wheel gap by about a half inch, but lift the car an inch. I'm planning on letting these wear out and going to the proper size when the time comes. Not a big deal, I can clear some curbs at least.

Moved to wheels and Tires.

Basically, your tire will be 12.9mm closer to the fender so it will appear lower at that spot, but the entire car will be raised by that much as well so the body will look father off the ground.

Assuming the speedometer is perfect with your current tires, the speedometer correction is -3.86% which means when the car is doing 60mph your speedometer would read 57.69. This is because the tire has an additional 81.1mm worth of circumference. Adjust accordingly.

Get them, burn the rubber off as you see fit, then replace them with 235/40's.

you could also go to the dealer and just have them recalibrate your speedometer to the size tires you have on the car
