Have you noticed any overnight flat-spotting (vibration in the car and steering wheel at above 50 mph for the first few miles in the morning)?

Maybe the wider 235/45R17 size I got is more susceptible to that. (Plus I live near a high-speed road so I go faster sooner than "city folk" would : )

Also mine were made in China. Do you know if yours are US made? (It says on the sidewall - in very small letters, but it's there.)

I had the same reaction! I couldn't believe winter tires rode better, handled similarly, and were quieter than new all-seasons.

Yup, it's not a good sign when winter tires perform better on dry roads than all season tires ...

Which winter tires did you get (that handle about the same as the ContiProContact)?

We're up to 32k miles on our 2013 focus. We have the cooper 215/50-17 zeon rs3-a tires. it looks like they'll be down to the wear strips in another 10k miles. this seems reasonable to me - 40k miles to replacement. Is this what you guys have been getting?

almost entirely interstate driving btw 70mph +/-.

I just hit 40k on mine and should get another 5 at least. I think that is pretty good for a tire that isn't very expensive. Got to rotate each oil change (for me that is 7-8k) and check alignment annually. My driving is 75% highway.

Just passed 45K...have a little more left..will plan on tires in next few months. Found these online for ~$415 delivered to the installer and figure another $60 for installation. I am hoping my Ford dealer will match it so I can just do them when I get my oil changed next time. Really like these tires!

coopers made it to 49k

My Coopers made it to 49k with maybe 3/32 of tread left, not enough for another trip. Last 3k miles was a trip north. They seemed to get lumpier toward the end - maybe more sensitive to pavement unevenness. Or there could be a ply delamination?

Whatever it is, I'm getting Pirelli Cinturato P7's which seem very popular in the more technical reviews I read at Tire-Rack and here.

My service rep at the local Ford dealership- not where i bought the car - is completely convinced that Ford never sold Focii with Cooper tires - she shows me her Ford Service computer tire applications which doesn't list them. I told her I bought car from the largest Ford dealership in Maryland, and she supposed that since they were so big, they might have ordered their cars with these tires - Ford standard or not.

I think that's nonsense, but????

She agreed to install the Pirellis when i bring them in next week. Rear brake pucks need replacement, otherwise nothing has been done to car other than oil changes after the initial kerfuffle with the computer ground in the first month I had the car. The windshield wipers are even ok after 2 years living outside in the Florida sun - amazing.

I still hate the dual-clutch shifting rattle which sort of comes and goes, sometimes loud, sometimes almost imperceptible. The part that's bad about it is that it unnerves passengers. But that's for another thread.

I just replaced the stock Conti's with Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring. They have been great so far. The Continentals started to wear fast at around 40k but they got extremely noisy at 30k. Had the same noise problem with Continentals on a Ford Escape. I looked at the DWS but didn't want to take a chance with the road noise again. Hopefully the Cooper tires will remain quiet and get good tire wear. Time will tell.

Generally speaking, the survey results on TR will show the best ratings when tires are new (respondents with 25 - 5,000 miles) on the market. So, 237,000 miles reported is not a bank on indicator on how well the tire will perform over time as mileage piles up.

That being said, right off the bat, some tires just plain old suck, and have low survey results. Ratings on these tires certainly will continue to drop over time.

I have a set of RS3-A's waiting to be mounted to a set of Team Dynamics Pro Race 3 wheels. Impatiently waiting while other stuff gets done first.
