Tire for 17" x 7.5" wheel?

On my 03 SVT focus, I have American racing wheels with the specs being..

17"x 7.5" 4x108 Offset - 45.

II am debating between the 225 and 235. Does anyone know if the 235 will be too much? I would love the extra rubber (being supercharged), but there were 225s on the car before and they would rub over long bumps; then again even my winter 215s rub over bumps too..

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

235 isn't going to work for you; it isn't meant to go any narrower than 8" wide. 215/45/R17 is a really common tire size, which means that you not only have a wider selection, but they're also cheaper than rarer sizes.

7.5'' width is perfect for a 215/45.

I have heard great things about the Michelin Piliot Super Sports, so I think I am going to run that tire in a 225

235/40 is shorter than 225/45. It might work
