whats the cheapest way to lower your car in inch or so?

I do not want it dragging the ground but just a little bit lower. A while back I saw some spring compressors. Would that work? Would there be anything wrong with that?

Thanks

Everything is wrong with that.

You would have a better ride if you just cut your springs

Seriously, the cheapest way to lower your car is with lowering springs.

Don't cheap out. You'll do more harm than good. Look in the buy-sell-trade section. Find a reputable brand. H&R, Eibach, and so on.
Here are some examples of what to look for.

I'd love to lower my car, and have seen the $100 eBay kits, but in my opinion, I'd rather keep something as vital as suspension as high quality as I can.

Throw some sandbags in your car. A few in the back and one under each front seat should do the trick.

Tirerack.com has really good deals. Lowering springs are the best cheap way to go low.

I think the cheapest way to lower the car would be to take off your wheels....

But seriously. Springs made to lower it are best. Suspension isn't somewhere to go cheap.

I saw a guy take a blow torch to the OEM springs. The heat and weight of the car the springs became smaller/lowered the car... Careful you could easily crush your hand/arm or heat up the shock causing it to blow or explode.
