255's vs. 235's

Anybody running wider tires on their 18" wheels? Can I run 255's instead of 235's?

No. 255s are too wide for 8" wheels, max size is 245. Diminishing returns are weight, price, and sidewall flex. And 255/35/18 would be closer to OEM diameter NOT 255/40. Also, I can almost guarantee it will at least rub on turning.

I've been running a 245/40 for about 6000mi now. So far I'm pleased with the change up. Personally, as thejordan already stated, I think a 255 is too wide on the stock 8" wide wheel. You'd need to go up in width if that's the direction you want to go.

Thanks guys! This is exactly what this forum is for. Excellent advice. Headed to the tire store now to price out some 245's.

I agree with you there, and was actually considering the 255/35, but after hearing from those with some experience, going with the 245's.

Thanks again.

I'm curious what kind of driving you're doing that you need rubber that wide.

I should note too: I've got lowz with Sportlines. With the 245 there is no rub and a small tuck.
