You can google on how an alignment works, there are a few howto's out there. Most find its easier and you can get better results taking it to a pro (especially places that do free alignments/guarantees if you have to come back)

Also, its worth testing out your shocks. A lower and stiffer spring will cause yours to wear out faster, losing their ability to properly damper..could also cause some of your issues.

That's a loaded question...

CAN you do it yourself? Sure, you just need to turn the tie rod end one way or the other to push out or pull the wheel/tire into the right place. SHOULD you do it yourself? It's nothing I would want to "try" and see if I did it right, then go back and keep trying.

I would take it to a good shop and make sure you get the read outs of before and after the alignment so you can see what setting they should be at.

Update to my post: Took it to a local shop in our area (kind of a local big box- Mills Fleet farm) and had an allignment check. Here is what they found:
Left front -.8 camber 2.9 caster -.39 toe
Right Front -1.2 camber 2.9 Caster -.13 Toe
Left Rear -2.3 Camber .7 Toe
Right Rear -2.0 Camber .73 Toe

So I have some issues. Lots of red on the report. They said that I need two Control Arm Assemblies for the rear to be fixed. THey want to charge me $159.88 for each and $50 labor for each. Then $70 for the allignment.

I checked and the part that they are quoting me would cost $114 at Carquest. The same part they quoted for $159.88 (nice mark-up eh?). The part number is CA835 and is called Control Arm Assemblies Control Arm from Carquest.

So is this the parts that I need for those types of adjustments?

I put the springs in my self and did the breaks my self. Can I do the control arms my self as well?

I am feeling like I may be getting screwed from this place, but If I need the parts, and it does not require any special tools, I can do this my self and save some money as well.

Help!!!

Just to add to my post, I would add the control arms and then take in for an alignment.

Peter,

My girlfriends '02 ZTS is doing the same thing. Did the alignment correct the issue? I want to know before I go and drop $500 on tires. Thanks.
