Snow tire size for 2013 SEL hatch

(i cant fix the title. Should be 2012 SEL Hatch)

I'm looking to get snow tires for my car. I already have wheels off a 2003 taurus and TPMS sensor for them. I decided on General Altimax Arctic tires because i had them on my Fusion and LOVED them.

Now I'm down to size. The stock tire size is 215/55R16 and are $102 each from tire rack with a load rating of 93. If i went down in treadwith to 205/60R16 I'm now at $87 a tire with a load rating of 92. If I went with the smaller size my speedometer would nly be off by 1MPH at 60 MPH.

I know a skinnier snow tire is recommended by most people.

What does everyone think i should do for this situation?

1mph is not even noticable.

a skinnier tire would be slightly better in the snow and slighty worse on the dry (turning)

i would go with the 205/60R16 based on price.

also consider the michelin Xice 2, a better tire at similar price, they are on clearance due to thelaunch of the Xice 3. i dont have exact price because tirerack.com is down at the moment.

That would be fine you just would have to run the tire at a little higher air pressure to handle the diff in load rating so what ever your door says for psi then run it a few pounds higher as long as it doesn't goto the max air pressure on the tire

The Xice2 is about $34 more per tire and the Altimax Arctic got better snow and ice ratings. The dry and comfort are a little lower, but i can deal with that.

Thanks for the suggestion though

Not necessary.

Both tires in question are higher load rated than the OEM 17s at the same 35psi. Just observe the lower speed rating.
