Will 205/55/16 winter tires fit on my 2010 ses?

Will 205/55/16 winter tires fit on my 2010 ses? Seems the forum is saying its ok but Ford says its not a good idea. Anyone actually have this size on their car for winter? I dont want to buy rims for the tires and put them and and find out it wont fit or rubs the wheel well. Let me know.

i don't know about the 2010 but for 2008 i tried a 205/60r16 and they rubbed with every bump i hit even slowing down to 30km/h then i got home and looked online and a 205/50r16 was the proper size so a 60 series was too tall not sure about 55 series

My stock wheels were 205/50 16 and they didn't rub. I'd think they'd be ok on your car.

it's not the width or rim height but the sidewall height that makes them rub.... i have been through this for the past peek trying to put winter tires on my car and the only ones i could find were 205/60r16 and rubbed on every bump i hit so stock wheels were put back on and am waiting for the tire shop to bring in a set for me

well sounds like the 205/60/16's rub so perhaps the 55 wont? seems there is no one that has actually had the tires im describing on their car for winter. sounds like im taking a risk of rubbing. they also said it could affect ABS. not sure if i want to by rims for rubbers that might rub the wheel wells. the tires were given to me for free so i want to use them but it sounds like its not confirmed that they will be okay on the car.
