which winter tire

This is a spin off from my other thread. Which winter tires did you use on your focus last winter and how were they? I have a set of Blizzaks on my truck and wasn't very impressed but they didn't get much of a workout with our wimpy winter last year. I was thinking of trying the General Artics on the Focus. Just looking for others experience. Thanks

I have been using the General Altimax Arctic on several cars and they are amazing.

I ran Bridgestone Blizzak WS70's that were the base model (195/65-15) size. They were excellent.

I went with the Blizzak WS70s as well and they seemed fine but my disclaimers:

- Like you said, weak winter so I only had a couple of days where it really mattered, tough to get a real feel last winter.

- I've been running all-seasons and haven't had dedicated winters for 15+ years so they were an upgrade no matter what.

- First automatic (and after driving it for a little over a year, I'm thinking last) I've ever owned so I am still kind of getting used to that.

A little more snow this year and I'll have to get out to an unplowed parking lot some night to see what they can really do (or not do).

Here's one for your thoughts. I'm getting a Focus ST next spring so, do I need snows this winter or will the stock Contis get me through most of the season? I'm in CT and have an Acura RDX if times are really tough (but only part-time, as it's the wife's).

If you're getting an ST it doesn't come with Continentals, it comes with PS3's; those are rated "summer only."
